Here are a few questions & answers to help you understand the system:
Why do we need a ranking system?
The guild is suffering from troubles in the last months like lack of players in raids, players that feel that they are not gaining anything by raiding anymore, lack of motivation in general, etc. We can’t fix the lack of content, which happily will be fixed by Funcom soon, but we can create a system that allows players to feel rewarded and recognized for their dedication to the guild.
The goal of the system is to:
Motivate old members by recognition of their work past and present that is rewarded by a rank that shows their high dedication.
Motivate the new players to work for the guild, rewarding them with higher ranks as they show how much they are linked to our guild.
Keep the participation of the players, players that stay dedicated will be rewarded by higher ranks.
Rational distribution of raid spots. A balanced raid formed by players with high knowledge of tactics, good gear, good skill, etc, allows us to invite the players that have not such experience and gear while still keeping the raid safe and smooth. We want the guild to be a friendly place for everyone but without damaging our high performance.
Protection of the guild members from very new players, that still haven’t shown their behavior, dedication and level of skill.
I don’t agree with this system, what I can do?
These rules are working from now because we think it’s needed but they are not written in stone, if enough members want to change something just propose it. Make a post explaining what you don’t like and how you propose to change it, if you gather enough support from other members, it will be changed.
I don’t agree with my rank, what I can do?
If you don’t agree with your rank, please send a PM to one of the officers with your arguments, this will be revised and changed if there is any mistake.
I can’t play too much, will I be kicked from the guild?
No, we welcome all kind of players, but it will be harder for you to attain a high rank. Remember that some raid spots are always reserved and open for Members and Recruits so any player is able to join raids as long as they sign up in time.
I can’t raid too much because my schedule is incompatible with the raid times.
We need to plan raids based on the majority of the guild, sadly if you are not able join raids we can’t change the time for 1 or 2 players.
Raiding is one of the main goals of the guild so the rank system is focused on this, but players that show high dedication to our community, helping, contributing in other ways, etc, can be promoted to a higher rank even with low raid participation to reward them.
This has become an elitist community that is not friendly anymore.
This guild is what can be named as a semi hardcore raiding guild, we want to keep a friendly spirit that welcomes all kind of players but at same time keep a high performance in raids.
We think that all old and new, hardcore and casual players will welcome that raids are fast, good and smooth. If a player wants a hard time raiding with wipes and lots of hours of problems they can join new guilds instead of a top guild that we are.
I’m a new or very casual player and I will not be able to get any gear.
When dkp system was discussed, some players thought that the world will end and loot will go only to a few players. Time has shown that all even the more casual players are getting lots of gear.
Similar will happen with this, you may think that only a few players will be able to raid and get access to the loot, but there are spots reserved for all kind of players that will allow a rational and efficient distribution.
I’m an old player and I’m tired of raiding to gear other players while I get nothing.
We need the old trained, geared and experienced players to keep our raids in good health, for that reason we will reward the more dedicated ones with a high rank that shows the contribution and dedication to help the guild and the others players.
Remember that with the dkp system, you earn dkps for each raid. This may not look as important now, but when new contend gets to live, dkps will be needed to loot the new gear, so the more dkps you have, higher chances to get gear.
It’s also important to notice that the weapons are already open for anyone, in the future T3 is possible that armors become open too, so dkp will be compared also with the players of other classes, being the higher on dkps of your class will not guarantee you a loot.
I’m an old player and I’m bored of my main class.
If you are a veteran, you will be able to select one alt character that you will be allowed to play on main raids, but the alt needs to fulfill the Member rank requirements, (total dkp earned, number of epic gear, etc.). You can of course already play your alts on the alt raids, but we want to reward the old, dedicated and already well geared players to play their alts also in main raids.
These alt spots are limited to avoid lowering the raid performance. Remember that if you lose your veteran rank, you will also lose this benefit. It’s also important that dkp earned will go to your alt not your main, unless you are asked by the raid leader to switch.
Only the 1st alt of choice can use this rule, if you have more alts they can’t join main raids. This is made to avoid cheating and “clever” players to jump from 1 class to another to get advantage of low represented classes for looting.
Why are there no Elder players in the ranks?
As the system is just implemented, we will reserve this ranks for the next weeks, until we see how the system works and any comments/changes that players want to make.
It’s basically a veteran that gets a special recognition, which will be a happy event for the guild.
Why limit the number of veterans?
As there are a limited number of spots in raids for veterans, there is no sense to become veteran and then not able to join raids because the spots are always full. Veterans will be highly participative players that can’t be left out in a usual way, so it’s better to limit to a number that allows most veterans to join usually to raids.
The system is also a way to motivate and recognize the work and dedication to the guild, if it’s a fixed position that once attained is kept forever, this would not work, so players that lower their activity and contribution for longer periods of time will step down in rank, at same time players that are motivated and show dedication will be promoted.
The same happens with classes, we can’t have 20 veterans guardians, raids need to be balanced. The limit at each class is at moment at 3, but players that deserve higher ranks can be handled individually overriding this limit as long as a general balance is kept on general archetypes.
